5 Money Saving Apps for the Busy Mama

If you are anything like me, you are always on the hunt for new ways to save money and reduce expenses. When I became a full time stay at home mom, I didn’t have a choice but to find new ways to help us live off one income.  This is a list I wish someone had given me when I started on my journey of managing a family of 4 off one income.

The list includes easy to use apps that only require you to download once and take a picture of your receipt when you shop.  They are fast, easy ways to save without having to constantly keep up with coupons and the headache of remembering to bring them all to the store with you. Shopping with kids in tow is hard enough as it.

5 Easy Ways to Save $ for the Busy Mama

Cartwheel: If you are an avid Target shopper, you are missing out on tons of savings if you haven’t signed up for Cartwheel yet. Cartwheel is Target’s awesome savings app. I’ve been a member for years now and have saved hundreds of dollars thanks to this little easy to use app. You are able to save 50 offers at once and you can scan items in your cart before you check out at the store to make sure there are no others savings you missed. At checkout, you just have to show your Cartwheel barcode and the savings are deducted instantly. You can save anywhere from 5-50% off regularly priced items. To start saving now Sign up here

Ibotta: Ibotta is one of the most versatile savings app I’ve found so far. You can use it for rebates on groceries, clothing, specialty items, mobile shopping and so much more. It’s as easy as this, find rebates on the app before you shop, make your purchase at participating store, scan your receipt and the money is your account within 48 hours. Not only have I saved money on everyday purchases with this app but I’ve also discovered new products my family now loves with instant savings attached.  Click here to start saving.

Checkout 51: This app is incredibly similar to Ibotta but they have completely separate offers allowing you to save even more. Like Ibotta, you need choose your offers before you shop, but with Checkout 51 you can shop anywhere. Scan your receipt when you get home, and as soon as your account reaches $20 you are able to cash out. It may not seem like big savings in the beginning but if you keep up with it and use it often you’ll reach your payout amount in no time.  To find out more about Checkout 51 download the app or click here.

MobiSave: Is one of my favorite new apps. They don’t offer quite as many rebates just yet but they have no limit on how much you need in your account to get paid out. You can shop anywhere you’d like, select the rebates you want to use, take a picture of your receipt and your earnings will be deposited into your PayPal account within 24 hours. It’s just that easy. Paribus:  This is the newest app I’ve found and it seems like it could be the best yet.  Have you ever made a purchase online only to find out the item went on sale the following week? With Paribus, this is no longer a concern. All you have to do is connect your Paribus account to the e-mail account that you receive your online shopping receipts to.  When Paribus sees you spent more than you needed to, they will send you the difference, minus the 25% cut.  Basically you pay nothing for their services since they are being paid out of the money they are saving you.  It’s a win-win and all you have to do is Sign up here.

  2. Great ideas for saving money. I used to write for a frugal living Canadian website – this takes me back to my money saving posts. As a SAHM I am always on the lookout to trim costs, find deals and get rebates (especially grocery bills with 4 boys -eek!) Do you have something similar to the Scanning Code of Practice in the U.S? It’s a great idea to get free items as well.

  3. I already use checkout51, cartwheel, and ibotta and I absolutely love them! I may have to add Paribus to my save money apps on my phone. Thanks for recommendations!
