For Dad’s of Toddlers:
You’re Baby’s First Word Will Be Dada by: Jimmy Fallon
This book doesn’t have too many words to it but it is definitely a favorite in our house. I’m thoroughly convinced my 2 year old believes he can read it himself. I’m sure every new father can relate to wanting to hear their baby’s first word to be “Dada”, in this book it shows that animals are no different. My boys love reading along with this book and yelling “DADA” on every page along with all the animal sounds. This is fun book and a must for all the new Dad’s in your life.
Daddy Cuddle by: Kate Mayes
This book is the adorable story of an eager little bunny who can’t wait for his Daddy to wake up and play. Sound familiar guys? I think anyone with an energetic toddler can relate to this sweet story. It’s the perfect little book to read to your little one for Father’s Day. The beautiful watercolor illustrations captures this
Because I’m Your Dad by: Ahmet Zappa
This book is one of my favorites because it touches on the special relationship between a dad and child. This book offers tons of silliness, like eating spaghetti for breakfast and French toast for dinner, all because dad says you can. The adorable illustrations by Dan Santat make this book incredibly fun to read.
For Dad’s of Preschoolers:
I Love You, Daddy by: Jillian Harker
I Love You, Daddy tells the story of baby bear growing up. There are many new things to discover and adventures to be had now that he is getting older. But will he be brave enough for them? With the love of his Daddy, nothing can stop him. I love this book because it shows children it’s okay to be afraid of new things, and that sometimes all you need is the love of your Daddy to be brave and conquer anything.
I Love my Pirate Papa by: Laura Leuck
This is one of the newest books to our collection and I instantly fell in love with it. I’ve had pirate theme for my oldest son’s nursery and am a sucker for pirate books. This adorable tale of a sea-faring boy and his pirate papa is sure to bring a smile to your face. From helping to raise the pirate flag, to learning to read a pirate map, this pirate papa makes sure his boy knows the ropes of a pirate ship. This best part is the sweet ending where he tucks his little buckaroo in for the night and reminds him that there is no greater treasure in the world than his dearest pirate boy.
Daddy Long Legs by: Nadine Brun-Cosme
Daddy Long Legs starts off with daddy dropping his son Matthew off at school. When he says “See you this afternoon” Matthew starts up a long list of what ifs. Daddy continues to reassure he son with a long list of scenarios, each one more impressive than the last, of how he will make sure to be back to pick him up. Finally daddy convinces Matthew that if it comes down to it, he’ll use his own to legs to return to pick him up at the end of the day. This book is a lot of fun to read and reassures children that no matter what, their daddy will never leave them behind.
Nelly Gnu and Daddy Too by: Anna Dewdney
From the author of the Llama Llama books, this story is of little Nelly Gnu and all the things she loves to do with her daddy. The fun to read rhymes and the silliness of this book makes it a delight to read for both child and parent. Nelly Gnu loves to build, paint and draw, but all these things a so much better when her daddy is there too.
