Ever think about starting your own blog?
I’d like to show you just how easy it is to own your own blog and start generating money from home today.
I originally started blogging back in 2015 as a hobby. I started a WordPress blog ‘Adventures of Mike and Tuck’ and had a lot of fun sharing updates on the boys and some of the fun things our family was up to since moving so far away from our hometown.
Flash forward two years and while I enjoyed sharing information on the boys, I also wanted to do more. I felt like a part of my individuality was slowly disappearing as I was getting sucked deeper into the life of a stay at home mom with toddlers. So I decided to switch up my game and really try to make something as a blogger and so Chaos in Mommyhood was born.

Making the step from blogging for fun to blogging for a living really wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I learned quickly that the most important thing you need to really make it as a blogger is a trusted and reliable hosting site. After much debate and research, I chose SiteGround to host my site and I’d like to tell you exactly why.
SiteGround is not only the fastest and one of the safest host sites, they also have an incredible team of support staff to help you with every step along the way of setting up your very own blog. The price is insanely low compared to some other sites as well, at just $3.95 a month. Basically, you can own your own blog and domain name for less than $4 a month and be free to generate income in whatever ways you’d like on your blog.
If you ever even considered blogging, you should totally try it. It can be kind of exhilarating putting your thoughts and views of the world out there and I truly believe everyone should have their voices be heard.
I’ve only been blogging as a way to make money for two months now, but already I’ve learned so much and would love to share that information with you, so you too can start your blog.
I’ve found it to be a really fun way to make money from home and try out free products for my honest opinion on them.
How to Start Your Blog
- Pick your niche: Your niche is basically the main topic you’d like to blog about. Whether it be recipes, DIY, or travel. Or you can start a lifestyle blog and blog about all of these things. That’s the best part about blogging. It can be anything you want.Once you establish what your niche will be you can name your blog. Make sure it’s something that is catchy and easy to remember. You want people to be able to relate to your name and want to know more. Once you come up with a couple of names check to see if the domain name is available.
- Choose a platform: If you’re not quite ready to monetize yet I recommend starting with WordPress.org. You can begin to customize your site there and when you are ready to monetize it, SiteGround will easily transfer your posts.
- Set up your blog: SiteGround makes it so simple to start your own blog that I want to walk you through it and show you how in about 10 minutes you could have a blog to start generating money with.
Let’s Get Started:
To follow along with this tutorial and set your blog up today, be sure to follow this link. It will take you straight to the SiteGround landing page, where you can get a feel for exactly how easy this process it.
Go ahead and click “Sign Up” button to get started.
STEP 1: The first step to signing up with SiteGround is choosing your plan size.
SiteGround offers various plan sizes with huge discounts on all of them. I chose their StartUp plan because it literally has everything you need to get your site up in running and only costs $3.95 a month. This includes one website, 10GB of web space and 10,000 monthly visits.
The GrowBig plan is actually the best deal they offer. For just $5.95 a month you get everything that comes with the StartUp plan as well as premium features. You have the ability to have multiple sites as well as double the web space and 25,000 monthly visits. You also get premium support, even extra fast times and the Super Cacher. The Super Cacher improves your site speed allowing it to rank higher with Google and keep visitors on your site.
If you’re looking to go big or go home and really throw everything you’ve got into your new site then go ahead and sign up for the GoGeek plan. This plan is the largest that SiteGround offers and includes all the benefits of the previous plans, as well as 30GB of web space and 100,000 visits monthly. This is a great option if you are expecting high amounts of traffic to your blog as soon as you launch.
Once you choose the plan that fits your needs best go ahead and click Get Started.
Step Two: Choose Your Domain
Did you already have a great name in mind for your blog? Now is the time to set it up as your domain. You want to make sure this is something that is catchy, relates to your blog, and is easy to remember.
Be sure to keep it simple and straight to the point.
If you already have a domain name you can enter it here. If this is all new to you then go ahead and register your new domain and make sure it is available.
I highly recommend you stick with a .com rather than going with a .org or other.
Once your domain checks out and is available you are good to go.
Step Three: Review and Complete
Enter in your account and client information. (Be sure to write down your username and password somewhere safe)
Enter your payment and purchase information
Next, you’ll be asked about Extra Services.
You can choose to add on any extras you’d like, but the basic features are fine to start off with. Feel free to check or uncheck these boxes to your liking.
Once you’ve finished, check the box that says you agree to the Terms and Conditions and then click “Pay Now”
You did it! You officially own your own blog and are free to start generating an income from it.
The only thing left to do now is to install WordPress and start creating your site.
